My Motorcycle

My Motorcycle is a 2008 Honda Varadero.  This picture was taken after completing the trip to the Arctic Circle and back along the Dempster Highway in the Yukon.  On this journey, my path will take me along mostly paved roads, so I suspect it won't get this dirty.  I'm starting off the journey with around 30,000k on the clock.  I've replaced the front and rear sprockets (Honda OEM) and an aftermarket chain.

Issues:

Although its never left me stranded, the engine developed a vibration at around the 15,000 km mark.  I've had it in to a couple of shops but no one has managed to isolate it.  Honda Canada basically told me it is all in my head but actually it's all in my extremities which tend to fall asleep due to the vibration.  I plan to just live with it and after this riding season, probably change bikes.

Modification:
  • Givi crash bars. (The ones pictured are SW Motech which snapped off at a weld due to the vibration, I'm thinkin')
  • Barkbuster Storm Handguards.  The stock ones offered good wind protection but had no support in case of a spill.
  • Givi windshield. (squared off at the top)
  • Lowered foot pegs
  • Oxford heated hand grips.
  • Rox Risers
  • Crampbuster.  Not the safest gadget but does help on those long stretches.
  • The seat is stock but I have covered it with a o-so-comfy sheepskin from Sheepskin Boutique in Kelowna.  Great service there. (dont't think they have a website)
